Hi! We’re Jill and Jillane. We’re business partners that happen to be mother and daughter. SFAP began in 1996 when jean on jean on jean for EVERY member of the family was SUPER cool for picture day. We have some pretty cool archives, if we do say so ourselves. Jillane “officially” joined the business when Dennis (that’s Dad) was diagnosed with an incurable cancer in 2009. Through the years we’ve weathered bad economies (and held on with our chinny chin chins), ran over a camera (insert 1 billion trillion crying emojis), and mostly and quite honestly the best part is we have have experienced so many amazing stories. It’s a true honor to be invited into some of our clients’ most momentous moments of their lives. The first time they see those images with Kleenex in hand is worth every single minute.

About the session:

The first time we saw this family we thought oh my goodness these people are beautiful! And the more we got to know them during the session and ordering appointment the more we realized they were just as kind and genuine, too, which is kind of like hitting the photographer jackpot. The mom graduated from a local art school (SCAD), so when it came to ordering her choices in images and framing were just so pretty! I love that they wanted to include some images with grandma as well. So often the older you get, the less photographed you are which is just a shame. What an amazing treasure this Grandma and grandkids now have to hold onto. It wasn’t a sit here perfect smile at the camera picture, but I think that’s ok. It was just how life was rolling at the moment, and honestly, I think I love it that way a whole lot more.

GEAR:
(2) Canon 5D Mark ii’s
Canon 85 L series
Canon 50 L series
Two reflectors on the right side
Background hand painted by Jillane

Jill usually shoots the family part of a newborn session with me getting the details and candids of the family and then I shoot the newborn on the blanket
