Bio:
Hi I’m Courtney, the photographer at Courtney Houk Photography – my little business that I just put out into the world last month! After countless prayers, I realized the only thing holding me back from my dreams was myself. So, I put those fears behind me and decided to do something my heart truly craves. Photography wasn’t something I always knew I wanted to do. It wasn’t until becoming a mother and seeing my babies grow faster than I could blink that I realized the only way to preserve the memories of them was through photography. Getting back professional photos of my family made me feel something I had never felt before and I knew that I wanted to be the one to make other mothers feel those unexplainable feelings. My biggest desire with family photography is for families to look back on these pictures and not only see images, but be reminded of how they felt in the moment. I want to capture those moments that when they see the photograph hanging on their wall, they can’t help but stop because they brought back to the days that feel so far away. Our littles don’t keep, but photographs do. This is just my beginning and I cannot wait to see where I can take myself with this dream of mine!Aside from photography, I married my high school sweetheart and I am fortunate enough to stay home with our very energetic 2.5 year old boy and 5 month old baby boy that smiles at everything!
Session Details:
This session was my first real portfolio building session after deciding I wanted my dream to become a reality. I was fortunate enough to do a 1:1 mentoring session with Alexandria Smith of Daphne Mae Photography (IG: https://www.instagram.com/lovedaphnemae/) and these images were taken by me at her garden studio. So many of these photographs are ones that I wish I, as a mother, had and that is exactly what I want out of my images. It was an intimate session with nothing but simple, sweet moments of a mama and her little boy.
