What’s in your camera bag & what’s your favorite lens?
Contax 645, Fuji GFX, Fuji XH1, Zeiss 80mm, Fuji 400H film, extra batteries & my favorite lipstick! My favorite lens is my Zeiss 80mm!
Who inspires you?
I am so inspired by Elizabeth Messina and the way she captures her subjects. I also love to watch the way mothers love their babies, that is such a huge part of my work – the connection.
What makes your brand unique?
Shooting in medium film makes my work unique & different, especially for the midwest. Film allows me to be in the moment – capturing authentic moments without over shooting. I wait for those in-between moments to capture the connection between my subjects. As a mother, I am able to anticipate and guide my families into poses that feel organic & natural.
What’s your favorite aspect of your business?
I absolutely LOVE showing my clients the work & imagery we created together. Seeing their reactions to the photos brings me so much joy and always solidifies why I love photography so much! I also adore the session part – getting to know them, interacting and guiding them into poses to capture beautiful and timeless imagery for their family.
What business advice would you give to someone overwhelmed with starting out?
When you are just starting out, you can feel so lost & unsure about which direction you should go. I highly recommend seeking out a mentor or educator to help you get on the right path to help your business grow and succeed – and to be started properly (and legally)! And also to follow your gut & style. Be unique!
What’s your Starbucks drink?
Iced green tea – unsweetened!
