I JUST made the switch from Canon to Sony for digital but am LOVING the Sony FE 50mm f/1.2 GM lens so far
What is your favorite thing to do when you aren’t working?
My favorite thing to do when I’m not working is to travel with my family! We all have the travel bug and love to get away every few months, whether it’s a weekend away to the country or a couple weeks across the pond!
Who inspires you?
Oh, goodness, so many people! My favorite photographers are Elizabeth Messina, John Dolan, and Jamie Beck.
What makes your brand unique?
I photograph motherhood through a romantic & whimsical lens because I truly believe that motherhood is both of these things. The day-to-day of motherhood is intense, gritty, and anything but beautiful, but the overall journey is rich and nostalgic, and I want mothers to see and feel this in their images.
What is your favorite aspect of your business and what you do?
My favorite aspect of my business is providing a high-touch experience for mothers, from client wardrobe & hair and make-up to delivering heirloom artwork. I didn’t get newborn photos done when my oldest daughter was born because of the overwhelm, so my aim is to make the experience luxurious and stress-free – not only so moms actually get the photos done but also so they walk away with tangible art to pass down to their children. Additionally, I love the freedom running my own business provides. Running a profitable business has gifted me time with my family, and I feel so grateful for that.
What business advice would you give to someone overwhelmed and just starting out?
Think with the end in mind. Where do you want your business to be in 5 years? Invest in education so you get on track to get to that place. Think about what makes YOU unique and incorporate that into your business, whether it’s into your actual photography or business structure.
