Melissa Arlena is an award winning lifestyle newborn photographer in Charlottesville and Richmond, Virginia who has earned her Master Photographer Certification from NAPCP. Her natural and simple work has been featured in magazines and online blogs worldwide. She has been named Best Maternity and Newborn Photographer in Richmond and Charlottesville, VA in 2023.
About the Session:
This mom reached out to me because she wanted to have a maternity session done at her childhood home in Virginia while she and her husband were visiting stateside from Australia. She mentioned that the home was on the water and there was a pretty garden on the property to take photos. That did not prepare me for the stunning location I drove up to on our session day! Initially in our chat about wardrobe she mentioned going a bit casual and I recommended having a dress on hand to give them different looks for their photos. Mom totally delivered in a gorgeous Selkie gown that looked like it was made for our backdrop! We wandered the gardens she played in as a kid and captured beautiful memories for her and her husband. We are already planning another session for next summer when they return and I’m so excited to photograph her and her daughter in this secret garden!
