Session Details

My mother-in-law is a major green-thumb. A trait that we do not have in common. I struggle to keep a cacti alive! After we moved to the Houston area, I would visit various greenhouses with her and I just loved taking in all the colors and natural beauty as we walked the aisles. I also imagined that the symmetry the aisles created and layering of different sized plants would make an amazing backdrop for a motherhood photo session. Lucky for me, several Moms agreed that, yes, this is where they would love their motherhood photos taken as well! For this particular session, I used a sage green color scheme from the client wardrobe to compliment Mom’s amazingly red hair and green eyes. I also wanted other clients to see color options that were light and soft when they did not want to wear white or ivory. One thing I’ve had to learn as a Houston photographer is that I need to take my gear out at least 10 minutes prior to the session because the intense humidity fogs up all the lenses! My first shoot in Houston was such a surprise to me when I couldn’t see through my lens! This Mom did so amazingly on this hot summer day and I’m so glad she stuck it out through the hear and humidity because the results are worth it! (When shooting on a business premises like a greenhouse or coffee shop, please ask permission! As a photographic community, we want to continue to be able to shoot at amazing locations so please be courteous and remember this is someone’s place of business.)
