Bio

Hi, I’m Jess, the owner of J L Scott Photography, specializing in wedding and family portrait photography in Lincoln, Nebraska. I started my business with the dream of focusing on really only one type of photography – capturing one of the most amazing (and first) moments of motherhood: birth. And I have to say, I am so glad I decided to expand that scope, because it has led me to witness so many beautiful relationships between mothers and their children, of ALL ages! What an incredible blessing it has been, to be invited into the lives of others and to be trusted to create these visual time capsules for my clients. My style is quiet, classic, romantic, and full of light. I happily embrace the less-than-perfect frame or two, whether it be a little out of focus, or have (what some may call) too much grain. In these often frantic and fumbling lives we lead, we tell the truest story when we embrace the beautiful, unpredictable, pure poetry of the imperfect.

Session Details

When I walked into the Griffith’s home, they apologized for some of it being “under construction”. But the crisp white walls, sweet personal touches, old style charm, and abundant greenery made for my ideal setting. Not to mention they have the most gorgeous kitty, who mostly allowed herself to be photographed. Handsome baby Emmett snoozed peacefully through the entire session, as we made use of the natural window light on a somewhat overcast day (you can’t predict the weather, unfortunately). I loved to see this brand new mom coo, admire, and love on her son, and I walked away with the biggest smile on my face, because you always know when you’ve just created something truly beautiful.
