What does it take to keep photography education fresh, useful, and actually worth your time? For The Motherhood Anthology, the answer just got a lot clearer. Katie Lamb, a longtime TMA mentor known for her sharp, generous teaching style, has officially joined the team as TMA’s Director of Education. On this episode, host Kim Box sits down with Katie to talk about what’s already changed inside the membership and what’s coming next.

A Fresh Vision for TMA’s Education Library
Katie’s first project as Director of Education was rebuilding TMA’s entire education dashboard from the ground up. With years of content covering everything from posing to pricing to studio lighting, the library had grown rich but hard to navigate. Katie reorganized it so members can search by topic and pull up exactly what they need, whether that’s a quick refresher on newborn wrapping right before a session or a deeper dive into in-person sales. She also went back through years of older lessons to update anything that no longer reflected where the industry stands today.
What stands out most is her philosophy behind it all. Katie isn’t interested in filling space for the sake of it. Every lesson inside TMA is meant to respect a photographer’s limited time and actually move their business forward, not just add another video to a long list.
Real Results Inside TMA
Part of what makes this shift work is how closely Katie and TMA Community Manager Ali Payne collaborate. Ali hears directly from members inside the private community, what they’re struggling with, what questions keep coming up, and passes that feedback along so new education can be built around real, current needs. Members have already been requesting things like behind-the-scenes footage of real sessions, guidance on transitioning to an all-inclusive pricing model, and walkthroughs of CRM workflows and client email sequences.
That same responsiveness shows up daily inside TMA’s private community, too. Kim and Katie shared a recent example: a member posted a gallery in the group asking for feedback on her editing, and within minutes she had mentors offering notes and even editing a sample image to show her a different approach.

Community and Education Go Hand in Hand
Running a photography business can be isolating. There’s no coworker down the hall to ask about pricing, no manager to troubleshoot a tricky client situation with. Katie talked about wanting TMA to feel less like a resource library and more like a safe space, somewhere members feel comfortable asking any question, no matter how small it might seem, and know they’ll get an honest, thoughtful answer.
That’s the bigger picture behind TMA’s approach to photography education. It’s not just about access to information. It’s about having a team and a community that’s paying attention to where the industry is headed, so members can stay focused on the work they love instead of trying to figure everything out alone.
