Bio:

Adrianne Shelton is a Richmond, VA based family photographer and owner of Beatific Visions Photography. She has been in business for over 6 years and serves her clients with timeless fine art family photography that speaks to the soul. Most of her work is hybrid, using both film and digital mediums to create curated images in all locations and lighting scenarios. She loves connecting with people to tell their stories and document their lives as they are, not just how they look.

Session Details:

Living in the Richmond, VA area, I rarely get a chance to photograph on the beach, but I absolutely love being able to experience new locations. This session all came together when my family traveled to Charleston, SC for a post-holiday vacation, and I immediately knew I wanted to do a session on the beach. The motherhood session took place just outside of Charleston, on an island called Folly Beach. My intention was to shoot both film and digital, but the walk to the beach took a little longer than anticipated, so I made the decision to only shoot digital based on the availability of light. During the session I was able to take note of the differences I saw between locations of land and sea- the excitement that lights up a child’s face just by being in the presence of the ocean and sand. The delight of being able to run freely and splash in the water. The treasures to find in the sand. How the baby of the family clung to his mama. There were so many details about this session that I wanted to capture, from the motion of an active childhood, to the way mama was looking at her babies. I was truly honored to be able to live presently during our time together, and I believe it really showed in the end. Dress: Christy Dawn
