MEET ROBYN AND ROSE
Fauna & Film is a sister-owned business located in Huntsville, Alabama offering a connection-focused photography experience. Their work is inspired by the nostalgia of leafing through a photo album filled with core memories and family milestones.
About the Session:
After photographing this beautiful mother’s maternity session earlier this year, we were so excited to spend time with her and her sweet family once again. This session felt simultaneously relaxed and intensive–we approached the day with a strategic timeline that allowed several breaks for baby while maximizing the enthusiasm of his older siblings. While the family opted for a studio setting rather than hosting us in their home (a totally understandable decision during the newborn phase!), our ultimate goal was to create cozy images that feel as warm and intimate as an in-home session.

Gear used:
Pentax 645nii, Nikon F4
We photographed this session with Kodak Portra 400 35mm and 120 film. Development and scanning by Southerland’s Photo and fine-tuning in Lightroom.
A Piece of Advice from Rose & Robyn:
Photographing families indoors on film can be difficult for a variety of reasons. Working with children requires a lot of patience and an extremely interactive approach, especially when the camera only takes up to 35 photos at a time. We’ve found it’s worth the extra time and effort to put down the camera and spend a moment intentionally interacting with the kiddos. We also budget extra time for each session, as well as extra film, which allows us to “overshoot” rather than miss the best facial expressions or sweet moments.
