Bio:

Hi there! I am Ashley, a Philadelphia maternity and newborn photographer. I opened my business 10 years ago and it has been a journey that has taught me so much about myself.  Prior to opening Ashley Blair Photography I worked as a Registered Nurse with experience in both Medical/Surgical and Labor & Delivery. Asides from being a photographer, I am also a Mom to 4 kids (ages 2-12). With this said,  I understand busy well, hence why I offer a full service portrait experience! I love to pamper the busy moms I work with and create a seamless experience allowing for a stress-free and enjoyable session!

With my background as a nurse, over the years I have found the connection between the two professions that really allows me to fully embrace the job. I love working hands on with my clients (specifically moms and new babies) to create art and freeze those ever so fleeting moments.

About the Session:

This session was from the summer of 2022 but has stuck with me and has been one of my favorites to date. What I love most about the session is the connection you see and the love that is palpable in each of these images. This was my first time meeting this family and to say their parenthood journey has been a bumpy ride is probably an understatement. Their sweet little guy, Brian had just turned two. He fell asleep for the family portion of the session so I was able to capture some extra snuggles.

The first two years of Brian's life were spent in and out of the hospital due to a variety of medical issues.  This session was his first portrait session since his birth and the parents were so excited to have professional portraits finally taken of him and their family. These parents are rockstars and Brian was an absolute sweetheart. He has had a rough year in 2023 with a long and arduous hospital stay (over 200 days) so it makes my heart happy to know that his parents have these moments and memories from last year to hold onto. I am submitting this as a blog post not only because I want to share my work but also because it's a good reminder of how our jobs as photographers allow us to freeze such precious moments for families, that ever so quickly can be altered.
