If you haven’t already, head on over to our podcast where a brand-new episode is ready and waiting for you!!!

Today, Kim is joined by our very own founder, Jenny Cruger.  Jenny has so much wisdom to share about all things photography business related, but on this new episode she will be focusing on branding.  From basic questions to ask yourself to really home in on that brand of yours, to why branding is so critical to success.... Jenny and Kim chat about all of it.  Go check it out if you haven’t already!

We went ahead and jotted down a few notes for you below that really struck a chord with us.

A great way to start the branding process is with these 6 questions Jenny suggested:

Once you really hone in on who your business is with the help of those questions, the next step is to solidify your brand by keeping these 4 tips in mind:

  1. Everything you do in your business should support your brand – visuals and non-visuals.
  2. Keep in mind that branding includes both what you are and what you are NOT.
  3. Your branding should always be consistent no matter the platform.
  4. Before you hit post or publish, ask yourself “Does this support the message I’m trying to portray for my company?”

Then, after you have your whole branding plan figured out, here are a few pitfalls that Jenny lovingly shared that you should avoid in order to maintain a healthy photography business brand:

  1. Not being unique or set apart from photographers in your area.
  2. Lack of authenticity to who you are and what you offer.
  3. Offering too many options to your clients in products, services, and editing/shooting styles.
  4. Failing to realize that your pricing communicates your business value.

Now those are just a few of our notes from this episode.
