MEET CAROLYN
Carolyn of Tesora Photography is a CT and New York based motherhood photographer. She travels often to document motherhood in the UK and Europe and spends a lot of time in the northern countryside of England. Carolyn uses both film and digital mediums to document the motherhood journey through its many stages. As a former lawyer, she has finally fully embraced photography as a full time career after having her business as a side hustle for 12 years. She is an active member of TMA and is thankful to the encouraging women in this group who helped made the transition to full-time photography seamless and so rewarding.
About the Session:
This special motherhood session was the answer to a dream by my client, who happens to be another motherhood photographer. To execute this vision, I found and curated this special home to use for the session to document the bond between Christen and her sweet babies. Purposely choosing a beautiful, light-filled minimalistic space was the key to a backdrop that added to the session.
This session was rescheduled due to rain on the original date, even though it was held indoors. That extra sunlight pouring through the windows made all the difference to guarantee the best possible light. Clothing choices were timeless, light, and flattering pieces to avoid any distraction.

Gear used:
This session was photographed on a Canon R6Mkii with a 50 mm 1.2 lens.
I didn’t have any film with me for this session, but wanted to make sure I fully emulated film here. I edited this session with TAP Fuji400H with my own editing tweaks for consistency. The goal was to make it unclear whether film was used to create a deep artistic experience.
A Piece of Advice from Carolyn:
I am a big proponent of seeking out spaces through home rental listings for indoor sessions if the client wants something beautiful, but their own home does not necessarily match this dream. While this home was beautiful, it was the clean, the light-filled spaces that made it possible for the viewer to focus solely on the bond between this mother and her children, rather than being distracted by the things in the home. Don’t be afraid to think outside the box when curating the client’s dream location. This also gave my audience an interesting change of pace from the usual studio that I rent out.
