What is in your camera bag?

Nikon D750 Sigma Art 35mm Sigma Art 50mm Tamron 70-200mm Sigma 105mm

My favorite lens has to be 70-200mm, but I switch a lot depending on the situation. When I do video as well, the 70-200mm doesn’t work, then I most often use the 50mm.

What is your favorite thing to do when you aren’t working?

Traveling: I was mostly raised in Germany, lived in Australia when I was 16, in London when I was 22, in Singapore when I was 23, and moved to Norway when I was 24. We traveled extensively with all our babies and kids before Covid hit, often for several months at a time. So planning the next trip is always on our minds. Gardening: There is really not much that is as grounding and relaxing as gardening.

Who inspires you?

Ohhh, such a difficult question! I don’t think I have a person that inspires me. But I can be inspired by really random things – right now a clean house would inspire me tremendously!

What makes your brand unique?

The attention to detail and that I am deeply empathetic. I really feel my clients and what works for them.

What is your favorite aspect of your business and what you do?

The freedom it gives me and my family, without a doubt. I used to work a very high-profile job before jumping into this 7 years ago, and the flexibility is definitely worth SO much. When it comes to the small moments, it has to be the feeling of giving my clients the images that I know they will cherish forever. What a cliché, but so true! Showing my clients their images has to be my favorite moment in their client journey.

What business advice would you give to someone overwhelmed and just starting out?

Simplify! Whenever you need to do something that feels overwhelming, say it to yourself like a mantra: simplify. This really works. Learn your craft, but find the moment when you are good enough and then put your focus on the business side of things. Success as a photographer is 90% business and 10% art/craft. Listen to advice, absolutely – but listen to yourself as well. For so many years I listened to the advice of setting yourself clear boundaries when it comes to when and where to work. Like, don’t work in bed, don’t work when the kids are around. When I started being honest with myself, that I do my best work in the most unexpected places, like in a noisy café, or in bed at midnight, and not at my desk in the 3 hours of calm that I have scheduled every morning, my whole life changed.

What’s your Starbucks drink?

Believe it or not, I don’t think I have ever had a Starbucks drink in my life. I also don’t like coffee, so that might come into play (but I believe they may have other drinks as well?) – okay, so you see, I really have no clue about Starbucks.
