Bio:
I’m Ariel! I’m a newborn, maternity and family photographer in Los Angeles. I am best known for creating natural, light-filled, newborn portraits but I carry the same “less is more” approach into all my photographic work. Whether I am photographing a newborn, expectant mother, children or a family – I incorporate natural posing and a minimalist aesthetic to create timeless portraits that are full of emotion and free from distractions. My photographic style has grown from my own experiences as a mother. I simply take the kinds of portraits that I would want done for my own children.
I live in Northeast LA with my husband and two kids. I grew up on a tiny island off the coast of Cape Cod and still prefer a dip in the Atlantic to one in the Pacific and I’ll always choose Twizzlers over Red Vines.
Session Details:
This session, photographed in March, was actually supposed to take place in my studio. However, with Covid-19 making more news and a city-wide stay-at-home order expected any day, we decided it would be safer to hold the session outdoors. Mom is wearing a Rachel Pally dress from my studio wardrobe and I love how well it suits her and the local garden we used for our location! The early spring evening provided the perfect light.
At the very las moment, dad and son decided to join us for the session. I’m so glad they did! If this little guy is any indication of what his little brother will be like, this family has it made. He was so happy to be included in the session and kept telling me “I’m here to take pictures!”, Yes, buddy, I know!
When mom got the final gallery she sent me this cute note: “These are sooo beautiful. Thank you!! Our son sat to look at them with us and he just kept asking for pictures of you” So I guess he didn’t quite get the concept, but he’ll appreciate these portraits later, I’m sure!
I do love my white-on-white studio sessions, but this garden did not disappoint! I love the light and airy feel of the color images in this gallery and could not be happier with the way the soft greens of the garden work with mom’s dress. The variety of backdrops in this gem of a location never ceases to amaze me and we were able to make our way around it in under an hour!
