Bio:
Mariana de Albuquerque is a photographer based in Toulouse in the south of France. She photographs maternity, newborn, and family sessions in Toulouse, Paris and other European cities. Mariana loves to create images with a timeless aesthetic, while also capturing in-between moments of connection and joy. With training in documentary photography, she applies the documentary approach when naturally posing families and selecting the final images. Her goal is to deliver an image collection that makes families feel something, with real memories attached to them.
Mariana's clients are typically international families. So her sessions usually involve a mix of cultures and languages. Before becoming a professional photographer, Mariana worked in international development at organizations like the World Bank and Save the Children. She traveled and lived all over the world. She decided to pursue photography professionally after the birth of her first son. That's when she realized that her previous career was not compatible with the type of mom she wanted to be. Photography came to her rescue as it allowed her to continue working while also being a present mom, involved in her children’s everyday life. She now works from home or beautiful parks around Toulouse while caring for her two little boys.
About the Session:
This fall maternity session was one of my all-time favorites to photograph. I had the joy of photographing this lovely Italian family in the beautiful south of France during a golden hour outdoor session at nearly 0 celsius. The session was particularly special as it took place only a few days before the baby girl's arrival. The session was conducted with a mix of Italian, French, and English! But despite the multi-language challenge and the low temperature, this maternity session was fun and relaxed. And it was filled with many in-between moments of palpable love and connection that they shared for one another. The relationship between the mom and her little girl was especially captivating and artistically inspiring.
