Bio:

I’m Hannah Mann! I am a film photographer based in Boise, Idaho where I live with my favorite guy ever and our three little ones (plus one more due this fall!). I stated my post-college life as a software engineer, but it didn't take long to figure out that connecting with people is where i thrive, and my photography business was born not too long after my second baby. I have fallen in love with photography because it is an incredible gift that I get to give to each person I work with. It is about so much more than creating beautiful pictures - it's about celebrating the biggest blessings that life brings our way, commemorating the events that shape who we are, understanding the true magnitude of the quiet moments of the everyday, and reminding us of the legacy we are already beginning to leave.

Session Details:

I have photographed this family several times before, and when they welcomed their fourth baby, we began to plan an outdoor newborn session in one of the many beautiful locations around Boise. However, the mother got in touch with one day and told me that she had had a dream that we were doing their session - but at an old farmhouse. And suddenly we both know the perfect place: a historic homestead in the foothills that has been so lovingly restored by the historical society, and is once again home to chickens and goats and hosts of small community events.

The homestead is always one of those places that feels like the setting of a happy, peaceful dream, but it was beyond what we could have imagined the day of our session. Every summer, the cottonwoods that grow near the rivers and streams running through Idaho begin to 'snow' and release the most soft, fluffy seeds that float on the breeze and truly look like a magical combination of summer and winter all at once. During the newborn session, the cottonwoods were snowing heavily, the breeze was blowing gently, and the afternoon sun was filtering through towering shade trees that made a hot afternoon feel just about perfect. It truly was the setting of a dream made real, and is a session that will always hold a very special place in my heart.
